I often get asked how this blog got started. I wish I had some grand tale about which to wax poetic but…
I don’t. It kind of just started on a whim.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, and I love being a therapist. I love helping people to feel better when they thought they never would. I love helping people tackling tough issues which appear insurmountable. I also know I tend to see things a little…differently than other therapists. A little outside of the box, so to speak. At least, so I’ve been told.
So, I decided to start writing some of my thoughts down about different topics. As a therapist in private practice, I write from my own perspective and opinions on various topics, such as mental health, addiction, relationships, parenting, and lots of stuff in between. My goal is to eliminate the shroud of mystery of what happens in therapy and openly discuss controversial topics. Although I will never discuss any clients that I see, I will explore common topics and themes which seem to flow through my family, my friends, and my work.
So without further ado, welcome to The Mental Notes!
